Japanese society is more about saving face and having a good reputation. Here, people aren’t as community-oriented.
It’s pretty heart stopping to hear that a CEO of a major company is willing to make this sort of sacrifice. You don’t hear that sort of thing happening stateside and it’s saddening to know our society’s values are so so so different in this manner.
